The Basilia is a statement ottoman bed with a tall headboard covered in deep square tufting. Finish the tufting with diamante buttons for a touch of sparkle, or with buttons in the same fabric as the bed for a softer, matching look. A 30cm footboard frames the end of the bed, and the whole mattress platform lifts on gas pistons to reveal a large storage space underneath. Every Basilia is handmade to order in our Birmingham workshop.

Built to last

  • Triple-reinforced frame: heavy-duty steel bars run the full length of the bed for extra strength.
  • No legs: the bed sits directly on the floor, so there are no screw-in legs to wobble or snap.
  • Made for heavy mattresses: strong enough for heavier sleepers and deep, dense mattresses without sagging.
  • Quiet and solid: handmade in Birmingham using traditional joinery, heavy-duty bolts and tee nuts, so it does not squeak or rub.

Frequently asked questions

What headboard heights can I choose?

The Basilia comes with a 130cm, 150cm or 164cm headboard. The footboard is 30cm high.

Can I choose the buttons?

Yes. The deep square tufting can be finished with diamante buttons for a bit of sparkle, or with buttons covered in the same fabric as the bed for a clean, matching look.

How does the storage open?

The mattress platform lifts up on gas-lift pistons, so it rises smoothly and stays open while you reach the storage space underneath.

Is the Basilia strong enough for heavier people and heavy mattresses?

Yes. The frame is triple-reinforced with heavy-duty steel bars running the full length of the bed, and it sits directly on the floor with no legs, so it stays solid and quiet.

Which mattress should I buy with it?

Any standard UK mattress in your bed size will fit. Popular choices are the Allure Memory Foam 1000 Pocket Sprung and the Reverie Memory Foam 2000 Pocket mattresses.

How long does delivery take?

Delivery is normally within 2 weeks of your order. Delivery is free to Birmingham, Redditch, Bromsgrove and surrounding areas.

Can I see the fabrics before I order?

Yes. You can order free fabric samples online, or visit our showroom at 24 Athole Street, Highgate, Birmingham, B12 0DA to see and feel every fabric.
